COVID-19 Update (Last updated: 18/07/2020)
Things are slowly beginning to shift and open up in many industries. At the moment, for the wellness, hospitality and fitness industries we are in a bit of a half-way-house with some face to face sessions being allowed and others still advised to remain closed. Read more
Here at Body & Spirit we are in regular contact with all of the different venues we use for our ‘in-person’ sessions to establish which of these locations will be available to us and when. We know that, where venues are either too small to allow for social distancing, or are used for nursery schools and the like (where the cleaning and hygiene requirements make things difficult), it will be a little longer before we can hold sessions. Other venues are being allowed to open up much sooner.
Sessions held outdoors can freely take place with limited numbers and social distancing in place, and one to one sessions can be help in the home, again with social distancing and good hygiene practices in place. And so, at the moment we are currently offering:
Currently these are all still taking place online via Zoom. We hope to have at least one ‘in person’ class available by the end of August. We will add a clearer date on this page as soon as we have confirmation. As ‘in person’ sessions resume we will also be maintaining permanent online classes for those wishing to use them.
We are excited that these are now taking place both in person and via Zoom. In person sessions can be either outside which is preferable, or indoors where necessary, but must be socially distanced. Hand wash is always used and masks are available for those wishing to use them. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer sessions involving physical contact as we do not have a therapy/studio space that can be closely monitored for hygiene.
Surviving To Thriving: When Life Gives You Lemons
It’s not every day we can announce news as exciting as this – Clare is now a published author! The book, Surviving To Thriving: When Life Gives You Lemons, explores how life can throw different experiences and events at us that are totally out of our control, and how to manage these situations.
Clare’s chapter, Running a Business from Home, Offering An Insight On Steps We Can Take To Remain Healthy And Productive, features first in the book and is a heartfelt sharing of her experiences during the Covid-19 epidemic. She hopes that regardless of the challenging circumstance someone might be going through, it can offer insight and support that might help.
The book features contributions from people in different walks of life all over the world, and offers practical advice on how to maintain your health, your families health, your business and general well-being through trying, unchartered times.
We have some copies of the book for sale at a cost of £13.99 each. Email us to order your copy.
We are here to help, so if you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
‘Clare’s Pilates’ becomes ‘Body & Spirit’
Over the last few years, I have really enjoyed working with so many different people and building Clare’s Pilates. I have laughed and learnt a lot! And, in recent months, I have found a real passion for taking a deeper, more holistic look at health and wellbeing; and at how our physical and mental bodies interact with each other.
I was becoming increasingly aware that, despite our best efforts to keep fit or make time for ourselves, many of us are tired, ill or stressed; sometimes mentally and sometimes physically. It was the same for me, I was promoting health and happiness, but I wasn’t healthy or happy, and I wondered why. Over time and with a lot of personal work, I realised that in any given day I was many different things to different people. And whilst I loved all of these parts of me, they were not working well together, and it wasn’t clear who ‘I’ was. Because I wasn’t able to see myself clearly, I couldn’t see what I needed to keep me fit, well and able to serve others. The realisation dawned that a person needs to be balanced; mind, body and spirit, and that anxiety or stress are very often the causes of pain and physical imbalances and vice versa.
Out of my journey grew a desire to do more than teach Pilates. I wanted to facilitate and support people on their own path to health and happiness, whatever that looked like. So, as many of you already know, my Pilates sessions have become more mind-body focused, the Roll & Relax Workshops are now available, and the Yamuna® Body Rolling has been introduced.
Working in this way feels right and is really rewarding, and I want to do more. I really want to be able to continue my learning and to collaborate with other teachers to bring new techniques and practices to life.
Current classes and private sessions won’t change. Becoming Body & Spirit simply allows everything to come under one umbrella, and affords the opportunity to introduce all kinds of classes, workshops and retreats going forwards.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the changes and plans; and especially any ideas you might have for future classes. I am really looking forward to helping existing and new clients on their own, personal journeys to health and happiness. I am so excited to see what this year holds!
